Hypnosis

Interest in Mind-Body-Spirit healing has increased tremendously in the past few years. Hypnosis is a tool that can aid you in achieving your own goals in a pleasant and comfortable way. Many of you probably have a false impression of hypnosis from watching movies, comedians, or television programs. These would cause you to believe hypnosis puts you under someone else’s control. However, this is untrue. Hypnosis is a powerful tool that will increase your own will power and your ability to achieve your goals.

Hypnosis is a perfectly natural experience. A hypnotherapist is a guide to enable a client to achieve their goals. Stopping smoking, overcoming substance abuse, weight control, increased self-confidence, success consciousness, pain management, eliminating fears and phobias are only a few. Other uses include overcoming insomnia and obsessions, enhancing strengths, and eliminating unwanted habits. Scientists have discovered we use only a small portion of our mind’s capabilities. Hypnosis is merely a means of helping you use you own unrealized natural healing abilities. I have had many cases in which the effects of hypnosis have seemed miraculous. So many have experienced amazing results because of hypnosis using the power of their own mind.

You may be wondering what the hypnotic state is like. Often people think they will be in an unconscious or coma-like state while under hypnosis. On the contrary, it is similar to that spot between awake and asleep -- that point in time when you are in a very relaxed state of awareness. It can also be compared to driving a car on a familiar road. Sometimes while driving, we enter into an altered state of awareness, similar to a hypnotic state. We may suddenly notice we don’t know where we are. We cannot remember if we have passed certain landmarks. The powerful sub-conscious mind took over like an automatic pilot and steered us safely until we snapped back to our conscious awareness.

Some of the best therapy actually occurs in a light state of hypnosis. There are so many levels in the sub-conscious mind that it is impossible to attempt to guess exactly what level will be the most beneficial to the client. Therefore, the client’s sub-conscious mind must choose the appropriate level for their particular problem. I cannot describe what each session will be like because each session will be different.

Your sub-conscious mind will decide how to help you achieve your goals in an easy and natural way.

In a relaxed state of awareness the mind is amenable to suggestion. Positive suggestions that cause body processes to function properly can enable your body to heal. Misunderstandings, imprints or impressions imposed on you willfully or accidentally by others can cause unhealthy effects on your mental and physical health. Hypnosis can empower you to release those images that are causing you difficulty and open the path to a healthy and happier life.

For those who think hypnosis is dangerous and that it weakens the will, let me say that it has just the opposite effect when done properly. Hypnosis is a tool that can actually strengthen the will, and improve the mind through positive reinforcement. By increasing self-confidence and positive traits you can achieve any goal you desire to achieve.

Hypnosis enables your mind to accept suggestions that cause your self-confidence to increase. It enables your to achieve a state of mind that improves your character. You can improve your creative abilities and improve learning skills. Hypnosis can help us in many ways to achieve our goals in a positive and healthy manner.

The Power of Hypnosis

A True Story

A wonderful example of a successful session involved a woman in her early fifties. She came to me complaining of constant pain from chronic urinary tract infections. She had suffered from this disease for twenty-two years. As I interviewed her she told me about her childhood and her life. I asked her to tell me about what was going on about twenty to twenty-five years ago. She said her husband had left her for another woman twenty-two years ago. I asked her to tell me how that made her feel. She told me, "It pissed me off."

I asked if she saw the obvious connection between her husband leaving her and her infections. She said that did not make any sense to her at all. The sub-conscious mid is very literal. For twenty-two years she has been telling

herself that she is pissed-off. Her subconscious mind took that as a command and the urinary system shut down, and did not work properly.

Her first session involved pain management, self-confidence, releasing anger and releasing the ex-husband. After the session she told me she did not believe it had worked. She heard every word I said. She scheduled another session a week later. When she arrived for her second session, she was happy and smiling. She said she had never felt better. She had not had any pain since her first session. She couldn’t care less where her ex-husband was or what he was doing.

After her second session, I asked her if she wanted to reschedule. She said that she was fine and thanked me. I never saw her again.

The subconscious mind is very literal. Be careful what you tell it. Use the power of your mind to help you achieve the goals you desire to achieve.
